Internet Marketing Tip 002: The Easy Way To Add Thousands Of Subscribers To Your List Quickly
List building is the cornerstone of many internet marketing businesses. Building your own customer base, particularly from scratch, can be difficult and can take time. While there are many ways to start your list building efforts one, often overlooked, tactic is:
- Developing a complementary product that adds value to an established service or product from another marketer and offering this to their customer base in exchange for an optin.
What To Do
The process here is really quite simple. First, look for products or services on the market (for example, through Clickbank) that sell really well (say a gravity >100). You can be sure that these marketers have a sizeable subscriber base.
Next, think about what you could offer that subscriber base that would add value to the product they have already purchased. For example, typically this could be instructional videos on how to use or setup the product. Or it could be a simple ‘users guide’ or a set of templates.
Think about the skills you have and how you might apply them to another product. In my case, I can create ‘data visualization’ tools quite easily using a product called Crystal Xcelsius. This means that I am able to create a graphical tool that uses charts to show how various bits of data interact. This might sound complicated but its simply a rather unique skill that I have that I can use to help other marketers. I recently applied this skill to a product that required users to put data manually into a spreadsheet. Many people find this difficult.
I then created a much simpler way to do this and offered it to the product creators as a gift to their lists in exchange for an optin. They they did quite willingly as it offered good value as an addition to their product. Bingo, I got 600 new subscribers almost overnight!
Now, I’m not trying to impress you with my skills here but trying to impress upon you how powerful this tactic can be. What skills do you have that you can apply to other peoples products? Do you write well? If so, you could create a step-by-step user manual. Are you proficient in creating screencasts? If so, create a small video series about how to setup or use a product. How about creating a little software product or script that extends the functions of an existing product?
For you and the product creator this is a win-win situation. They add value to what they have and you collect subscribers that are interested in your addon product. What’s even better here is that these subscribers are confirmed buyers already, making your new list highly responsive from the start.
Get your list building into top gear. Give it a try!
